The ex-Blancos frontman feels farther firepower is expected in the Bernabeu as the likes of Gareth Bale and Eden Hazard battle for fitness and form.

Real Madrid must bring another striker in alongside Karim Benzema, says Alvaro Negredo, with it, implied that Borussia Dortmund celebrity Erling Haaland could be the”perfect match”.

The Blancos happen to be connected with the Norwegian teenager a matter of months into his spell with the Bundesliga giants.

Haaland has hit the ground running in Germany, with record-breaking exploits facing goal watching him build on the foundations he laid at Red Bull Salzburg.

Former Real striker Negredo admits the 19-year-old might be the second ‘Galactico’ in Santiago Bernabeu, telling Marca: “I am surprised. He is a player I have seen a lot and he is spectacular. He can hit with both feet and he is taking advantage of every opportunity. He will keep growing.”

Pressed on whether Haaland is what Madrid are missing, Negredo added: “He is. He would be a perfect match and he could adapt well with Benzema.”

Zinedine Zidane is deemed to need another frontman in his group as the likes of Eden Hazard and Gareth Bale continue to fight for fitness and form.

“He has an excellent defence and among the best midfielders in the world but I believe that the attack is costing them the most,” stated Negredo.

“Not Karim Benzema, Hazard is not performing his expected level due to injury, nor is Bale. They don’t have plenty of goals.

“Due to Benzema’s way of playing, they want somebody else. He wants another forward by his side.

“I like him even when he is not scoring, and I would put someone nearer to him to make the most of things. He moves in the wings a lot and he wants someone else to arrive.

“More is expected from Isco, [Luka] Modric, [Toni] Kroos, [Fede] Valverde… then there’re Bale and. I hope he gets back to his best because Madrid want him and I love him.”

Benzema has netted 18 occasions in the present campaign, having found the goal on 30 occasions last season.

Real thought they’d landed a suitable choice when winning the race to get Luka Jovic in the summer of 2019, but the Serbian has fought to make his mark and contains only two attempts to his title.

“It’s hard because he is not getting the exact moments that he had in Germany,” Negredo said of a striker who plundered 27 goals for Eintracht Frankfurt at 2018-19.

“He came from enjoying all of the time to just playing a couple of minutes. Minutes and confidence are the main things to get a striker and five or 10 minutes here and there are not enough.”

Real will be expecting to find attacking inspiration from somewhere on Wednesday when they take in the first leg of a heavyweight Champions League last-16 experience with Manchester City.
