Jadon Sancho would not immediately enter Chelsea’s team if he is transferred from Borussia Dortmund, based on former Blues defender Frank Sinclair.

Sancho may be among the stand-out young talents in world football, but Sinclair is not sure he is exactly what Chelsea need.

“Jadon Sancho is an excellent player and a great talent but he plays in similar positions to the likes of Callum Hudson-Odoi and Willian, so there’ll be tough competition for places when he does join in the summertime,” Sinclair told GentingBet.

“Whether he’s a Chelsea goal, I don’t understand, as Chelsea have more than enough players in these places that may play in those broad areas or at the No.10 function, they have loads of options.

“Is Sancho any better than Hudson-Odoi on this left-hand side? When you examine the capacity of both players, do you invest near $186m, which I would expect he would price, to bring Jadon Sancho for this nation or would you just stick to Callum Hudson-Odoi?

Hudson-Odoi and Willian’s combined totals for the effort stand at 62 appearances, 10 goals, and 11 assists, while the Brazilian is out of contract at the end of the year.

Chelsea have also been connected with several strikers as Olivier Giroud appears set to leave the club and Michy Batshuayi fails to convince as a starting option.

Real Madrid’s Luka Jovic and RB Leipzig celebrity Timo Werner have been touted as possible targets.

“Jovic is a really good player but when you look at centre-forwards, he is pretty like Abraham in the way he leads the lineup,” Sinclair said.

“I would be quite reserved when it comes to Chelsea signing Luka Jovic.

“Just because you’re leaving a club of this magnitude of Real Madrid, it does not automatically mean that you are going to visit a club like Chelsea, settle in and score goals in the Premier League since it’s a different ask for gamers that have come from overseas.

“Werner is an exceptional player, who has played well in Europe this year. There are discussions about him visiting Liverpool also, which only shows how much he’s sought after at the moment.

“If you look at his all-round game, you would probably say he has more to his game than Abraham in the present time.”
